Thank you for your participation and see you in Autumn 2011 in Paris
The 2010 Annual Scientific Meeting of the Institut Pasteur International Network (IPIN) held at the Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine, The University of Hong Kong (HKU) was a great success.
The meeting started with a Keynote lecture given by Professor Françoise Barré-Sinoussi, Nobel Laureate in 2008 for the discovery of HIV. Three thematic sessions addressed current research in the areas of vaccine preventable diseases, neglected diseases, and networking to improve health. During this latter session, lectures were delivered by directors of Forgarty International Center NIH, the Riken and the Wellcome Trust. The final session was organized in conjunction with the Centre for the Humanities and Medicine of HKU on the “Nature of Altruism”.
Two workshops on Clinical Research and Scientific Expertise were organized and a workgroup on these themes will be created in early 2011.
The meeting also marked the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong University-Pasteur Research Centre (HKU-PRC). During the opening ceremony, Professor Alice Dautry, President of Insitut Pasteur and Professor Paul KH Tam, Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President of HKU praised the results of this partnership and paid tribute to the late chairman of HKU-PRC, Dr James Ziang Mien Kung.
The Scientific Meeting will take place in Paris in Autumn 2011. The next Meetings were foreseen to take place at the Institut Pasteur in Madagascar in 2012 and at the Institut Pasteur in Tunis in 2013.
